Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on Tuesday and they welcomed the progress in the ongoing discussions between the two countries to conclude a free trade agreement (FTA) at the earliest.
The statement said they reiterated their commitment to strengthening the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership during their phone conversation.

The statement stated that the leaders of the two countries expressed satisfaction with the progress made in the “2030 Roadmap” in areas such as trade, investment, national defense, security, and emerging technologies.
“They positively assessed the progress made in concluding a mutually beneficial free trade agreement at an early date,” the statement said.
The two leaders also exchanged views on regional and global developments of mutual interest and agreed to stay in touch and exchange greetings during the upcoming Holi festival, the statement added.
