Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum on Wednesday to discuss wide areas of bilateral cooperation, including trade and investment.

“Strengthening India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership! Prime Minister @narendramodi met UAE Vice President and Prime Minister @HHShkMohd in Dubai. Discussions covered wide areas of bilateral cooperation, including trade and investment, technology, education and people-to-people relations,” Ministry of External Affairs ( MEA) said a post on the official X account.

In a separate meeting with Madagascar President Andry Rajoelina, Prime Minister Modi reiterated India’s commitment to further strengthen India’s partnership with Madagascar and aid Madagascar’s development journey.

Prime Minister Modi and Rajoelina held the first meeting between the two leaders on the sidelines of the World Government Summit.

“Both leaders recognized the long-standing friendly relations and ancient geographical ties between the two countries. They discussed ways to advance bilateral relations and appreciated the close cooperation between the two countries in various multilateral forums, including the United Nations,” said a statement from the Multilateral Environmental Agreement.

Prime Minister Modi reiterated India’s commitment to “further strengthening India’s partnership with Madagascar” and the “Sagar Vision” – security and growth for all in the region.

Prime Minister Modi also said that as a developing country in the Indian Ocean region, India will remain a staunch partner of Madagascar in its development process.

In his speech at the summit, Prime Minister Modi elaborated on a series of themes that have intensified conversations around building a better planet and sought reforms in global governance institutions.

Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate the largest Hindu stone temple in Abu Dhabi after signing multiple bilateral agreements with the UAE and participating in a high-voltage ‘Ahlan Modi’ event with heavy participation from the Indian diaspora.

After attending the World Government Summit, he will travel to Doha to meet with Qatari leaders as part of a two-day visit to the Gulf region.
