Ottawa – Prime Minister Mark Carney expected Trenton, Ontaras, today, where he is expected to make an announcement related to the Canadian armed forces.
On Thursday, Carney told reporters that he planned to spend the day with Canadian armed forces “building safety and defense”.
While living in Trenton, Carney will also visit a military facility.
Canada and its NATO colleagues agreed to increase the defense spending target of their members to five percent of the annual GDP by 2035 at their annual summit in June.
Members of NATO agreed to plan 3.5 percent of their national GDP to invest 3.5 percent in the main defense needs – such as jets and other hardware – and other 1.5 percent in the respective fields, such as infrastructure and cyber security.
Carney said at that time that the new NATO agreement would see an increase of about $ 150 billion in Canada’s annual defense budget.
