The Google Pixel 9 series may launch in the second half of 2024, with recent reports suggesting that the company may launch three models this year. While the phones aren’t expected to be available for several more months, the company has already mentioned the upcoming lineup in the latest beta code for its Google app for Android phones. This appears to confirm previous leaks that suggested the company’s upcoming smartphone series would use the Pixel 9 moniker.

Feature TrackerTheSpAndroid spot Two files on Google app beta 15.14.34.29.arm64 explicitly reference the Pixel 9. The first file (assistant_robin_suw_pixel9_fragment.xml) appears to be directly related to the screen that displays when setting up Google Assistant on new Android phones. The XML file could also be the actual settings page for Assistant on Pixel 9.

The latest Google app beta also includes a second file (assistant_robin_suw_pixel9.json), which is a Lottie animation file for Pixel 9 (a lightweight file used for vector graphics animation). The animation doesn’t reveal any Pixel 9-specific features, which means it could appear on other Pixel models as well.

According to TheSpAndroid, there is no mention of the Pixie assistant that is said to be in development for future Pixel smartphones. It’s worth noting that the Pixel Assistant may still be in development and may eventually appear on this year’s Pixel smartphones.

Last month, a tipster leaked renders of the Pixel 9, which revealed that the upcoming phone will feature a dual rear camera setup, just like its predecessor, the Pixel 8. It may feature a compact design with rounded corners and a rear camera. 6.03-inch flat display. The phone is likely to be powered by Google’s Tensor G4 chipset and run Android 15 out of the box.
