Who can change Peter Mandelson as an ambassador to the US?
James Rossko has taken over as an interim ambassador from Lord Mandelson, while Downing Street begins the process of finding a permanent replacement.
Although there is no suggestion yet that Mr. Rosco will hold the situation permanently, a career diplomat has a strong CV. He currently heads the mission of the embassy, a role that takes him in the absence of the ambassador. He was earlier the Deputy Chief of Mission in the British Embassy Washington in July 2022.

Former Labor Deputy Leader described Mandelson as ’embarrassing’
Speaking later on Sky News’s political laxity podcast, former Labor Deputy Leader Harman called Lord Madels “shameful” to not resign.
He said: “I think he is right to dismiss him. I wish he never appointed him, but now he has gone. I think it is really shameful that Peter Mandelson had not really resigned.
“I think he should never have put herself forward for that job, knowing what he was likely to be, Peter Mandelson was likely to be. So I think it is a terrible, terrible episode. And the important thing is to move forward.”

Starmer found Mandelson email with Epstein ‘
Sir Kire Stmper found Lord Mandelson’s email “condemnable”, Downing Street said.
Asked if the Prime Minister shared ideas about two ministers who have said that they were hate and ill, Sir Kir’s spokesperson said:
“I think it is clear that he found the contents of these emails condemnable,” he said.
Asked which aspect was condemned by Sir Keer, he said that the depth and boundary of the relationship shown in the email was “new information”.
“And they show that Peter Mandelson suggested that Jeffrey Epstein’s first punishment was wrong, it should be challenged, and it is about the victims of Epstein’s crimes and in the light of it – that is why they have been withdrawn as ambassador with immediate effect.”
