More than 130 suspects will now be running to contact their lawyers after being arrested in street racing and stunt driving investigation led by Peel Regional Police.
Investigators say that they imposed more than 2,100 fees in project eras (eliminating racing activities on roads) – an annual operation that targets hotspot locations in the Greater Toronto region.
Peel police said in a release on Monday that about 100 vehicles were confiscated and more than 130 people accused due to investigation between May and June 2025.
Of the allegations, 86 stunts were 125 for driving and 125 for unnecessary noise.
In one example, on May 17, officials say they saw a driver traveling 209 km/h. The driver was accused of stunt driving.
A day later, investigators say a confrontation occurred when the driver of a silver vehicle put a red light and hit a pickup truck, so that he flipped on his roof.
“Both vehicles were present at a street racing event,” the police accused.
The driver of the silver vehicle was raced for dangerous operation, stunt driving and motor vehicle.
“Street racing is illegal and puts life at risk,” said Deputy Mark Andrews. “Through initiatives like Project Erez, Peel Regional Police is committed to curbing dangerous driving behavior that is a threat to the safety of our roads. Our officials are alert around the watch and will continue to adopt a zero-optimity approach for street racing and aggressive driving.”
