Kottayam (Kerala):

A passenger was allegedly bitten by a snake on a Madurai-bound train on Monday, police said.

The incident took place on the Madurai-Guruvayur Passenger Express on Monday morning.

They said the Kartik passenger, who came from Madurai, got off the bus at Ettumanoor station and was shifted to Medical College Hospital. The snake allegedly bit the passenger while he was traveling on the sixth bogie.

The preliminary conclusion is that the man was bitten by a snake from under the seat.

“His injuries are not serious and his condition is stable,” a railway police officer said.

His fellow passengers said they also saw snakes under their seats.

The train was stopped at Ettumanoor station for 10 minutes after the incident.
