“The decision to hold that meeting and the discussion that followed was not appropriate,” he wrote. “I take full ownership and responsibility for what happened, and I want to assure you that it was never my intention to single out or harm any group of students.”
On Monday, the Dallas Independent School District sent a letter to parents informing them that Barnett would no longer serve as principal, and Danielle Peters would take over as interim.
A statement sent by Dallas ISD Superintendent Stephanie Elizalde confirmed that the meeting called by Barnett was not sanctioned by the district. The letter did not include details of what actually happened during the meeting.
