Pakistan’s second largest naval air base suffers terrorist attack

PNS Siddique, Pakistan’s second largest naval air base located in Turbat City, Balochistan, was attacked by armed terrorists. The banned Majeed Brigade of the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for the attack and the base hosts Chinese drones.

according to balochistan post newspaper, the Majeed Brigade issued a statement to the media saying “We have entered the Pakistan Navy air base in Turbat.”

It also claimed to have killed “a dozen” security personnel at the naval base.

A senior official told the newspaper that the attackers “came from three sides of the airport boundary, but security forces responded immediately and thwarted their attempts to infiltrate the airport.”

However, he did not provide any further details, including whether there were any casualties among the troops.

Officials also said there were no reports of loss of “sensitive naval facilities” at the station and that Border Force and Naval Special Forces “succeeded in isolating the terrorists”.

The Pakistan Army has yet to issue an official statement on the attack.

“Baloch Post” stated that this is the third attack by the Balochistan Liberation Army this year.

On January 29, the separatist organization launched an attack on Maher City and on March 20, it attacked Gwadar Port, resulting in the deaths of two Pakistani soldiers and eight attackers.

The BLA has been actively seeking the independence of Balochistan and has been involved in various acts of violence against the province.
