Islamabad:

Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari confirmed that his father Asif Ali Zardari will be the party’s candidate in the presidential election, Dawn reported.

Addressing a rally in Thatta without taking any names, Bilawal said the party has decided to move forward with those who come to them and demand votes.

“We’re not going to take any ministry away from them. We’re not [seek] It is in our interest, it is the interest of the people, that we will ensure that democracy is preserved.

“To put out the fire that is spreading in the country, we have decided that Asif Ali Zardari will be our candidate for the presidential election. When he takes office, he will put out the fire, save the center and take care of the entire country “Four provinces,” he said.

Bilawal’s remarks came a day after talks between the PPP and the Muslim League-Ministerial League remained inconclusive, but both sides claimed that discussions had made “significant progress”.

The two sides decided to meet again on Monday to finalize a power-sharing plan for the coalition government.

A brief statement issued by Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz after the meeting said “significant progress” had been made in negotiations with both parties and stressed the need for a “strong democratic government.”

At the last meeting on Thursday, representatives from both sides sought more time to evaluate the proposals discussed at the first meeting.

According to Dawn newspaper, the PPP has assured the Muslim League of its support in forming the government and electing the next prime minister on the condition that in return, the PPP will be given important constitutional positions, including the presidency.

The PPP also announced that it would not include ministries in the federal cabinet despite supporting Muslim League-centric parties.

In his speech, Bilawal said he had no right to contest for the post of prime minister after the results of the February 8 polls were announced. He went on to say that “Pakistan is burning” and the PPP has decided to “put out this fire”.

Bilawal further said that the BJP does not want any federal ministerial or prime ministerial portfolio. “We just want to solve people’s problems,” he said.

“If we have to vote for the prime minister, then we will ensure that flood victims in Sindh and Balochistan get their due rights,” Dawn newspaper quoted him as saying.

Later, Bilawal posted on

“We have reservations about these elections and will take them to the appropriate forum and we believe the way forward is for all political parties to put aside their personal interests for the benefit of the people of Pakistan,” he said.
