Srinagar, May 08: Officials said on Thursday that the Pakistan Army continued firing along with the Line of Control (LOC) in four areas of Jammu and Kashmir, motivated by the Indian Army to give a response, officials said on Thursday.
Compared to Wednesday, when the Pakistan Army excluded one of the most intensive artillery and mortar shells targeting forward villages in JK after India as part of ‘Operation Sindoor’, the intensity of cross-border firing was low and was limited to four areas on Thursday.
A defense spokesman said in Jammu, “On the night of intervention of May 7 and 8, the Pakistan Army resorted to firing using small arms and artillery guns in LOC in opposite areas of Kupwala, Baramula, Uri and Akhanur.
Officials said there was no report of any casualties in the clashes.
The worst hit in Jammu, Poonach sector, who recorded 13 deaths in Wednesday’s intense shelling, was very peaceful at night, he said.
Hundreds of border residents have already moved to safe areas in view of provoking.
Lance Naik Dinesh Kumar of the 5-Naik Regiment was among the 13 persons killed in Pakistani shelling.

In view of the increasing tension, officials have ordered that all educational institutions in five border districts of Jammu region will remain closed for the second day on Thursday.
In a post on X, Divisional Commissioner Ramesh Kumar said that all schools, colleges and educational institutions in Jammu, Samba, Katua, Rajouri and Ponch districts will remain closed for the second day in view of the prevailing situation on Thursday.
In Jammu Division, the administration has also set up 24 × 7 control rooms in all 10 districts of the region.
Thursday’s shelling was the 14th night of firing with borders in Jammu and Kashmir and stressed after the Pahalgam attack.
