Ottawa-Finance Minister Finance Minister François-Filip Champagne is looking for feedback from Canadian people on national security and defense spending and strengthening the Canadian economy amidst an ongoing trade war as it prepares to give a federal budget in the fall.
Champagne today started counseling for the budget that will run by the end of August.
The government says that consultation will focus on reducing costs for Canadian people.
Prime Minister Mark Carney is renewing his campaign message to spend less and invest more in recent weeks.
Last week, Champagne sent letters to ministers and asked to cut the program expenses up to 7.5 percent in its departments to start the next spring, ramping up to 15 percent in three years.
The federal budget is usually introduced in the spring, but this year is coming more than normal this year, inspires some concerns from fiscal critics about the speed of spending and deficit size.
