A four-storey building along with its attic collapsed in a village in Dhami area here on Saturday, damaging a road leading to a government college and disrupting traffic, officials said.

However, there was no loss of life or property in the incident as all residents had already been evacuated and power connections to the building were disconnected.

This incident happened at 16 Mile in Marahwag village here at around 12 noon. Officials said the house of a man named Raj Kumar was sinking and there were cracks in the building’s foundation pillars.

He said that in view of the possibility of collapse of the building, it had already been evacuated to prevent loss of life and property. Officials said the road leading to the Government Degree College in Dhami here was partially damaged due to the building collapse, causing traffic disruption.

Sub Divisional Magistrate (Rural) Nishant said the building collapsed due to excavation work in the hilly area above the house. He told that a person named Dinesh Kumar is building his house in the area above the collapsed building.
