Nottinghamshire Police introduce special measures and ask for “urgent improvement plans”

Nottinghamshire Police were asked to “urgently develop plans to improve” the special measures.

The service has had increased levels of monitoring by watchdog Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary, Fire and Rescue Services (HMICFRS).

“Police need to improve the way they manage and carry out effective investigations,” they said.

Royal Constabulary Inspector Roy Wilsher said: “When a police force does not respond to our concerns, or does not manage, mitigate or address those concerns, we will include the police force in our enhanced Level of monitoring, i.e. ‘engagement’.”

“The engagement process provides additional scrutiny and support from the watchdog and other external organizations across the force to help the force improve and deliver a better service to the public.

“Nottinghamshire Police has been asked to urgently develop a plan for improvements and will meet regularly with our inspectors. We will work closely with the force to monitor the progress of these important and necessary changes.”
