After months of speculation and leaks about the Nothing Phone 2a, the London-based startup founded by Carl Pei has come out to acknowledge the device’s existence, but has yet to reveal a release date.

This information came to light after Nothing revealed the same information in a post on X (formerly Twitter): “See the world with new eyes, Phone (2a) is coming,” Nothing posted. Furthermore, the company has even added a new page on its official website conveying the same information but without mentioning the release window.

Codenamed ‘Aerodactyl’, the phone will be a toned-down version of the flagship Nothing Phone 2 and will be priced at Rs 44,999. The Nothing Phone 2a is likely to be priced more aggressively and could be sold at a much lower price, especially considering that the Nothing Phone 2 currently sells for around Rs 35,000 to Rs 40,000.

Additionally, the Nothing Phone 2a is expected to feature a 6.7-inch OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 chipset, coupled with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of base storage.

In terms of optics, the phone is likely to feature a dual-camera setup including a wide-angle lens and an ultra-wide-angle lens, with the main camera said to share the same 50MP camera as the Nothing Phone 2.

In addition, Nothing’s signature glyph lighting system is also expected to appear on the device, continuing the aesthetic introduced with Nothing Phone 1.
