Jaipur:
Petrol pumps across Jaipur will remain open on Monday in view of the ongoing board examinations. The Rajasthan Petrol Dealers Association has announced a 48-hour “no buy, no sell” strike starting from 6 am on Sunday to protest against high petrol prices in the state.
However, after holding talks with state government representatives, including Commerce and Industry Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, they decided to keep Jaipur’s fuel exports open on Monday.
The strike will continue in about 18 other districts of the state bordering Punjab and Haryana.
Why is there petrol pump strike in Rajasthan?
Petrol pump dealers in Rajasthan have announced a strike demanding reduction in value-added tax, or value-added tax, which will effectively reduce petrol prices in the state by around Rs 12 lac.
Rajasthan has the highest VAT on petrol at 31.04%, while on diesel it is 19.30%.
Petrol pump dealers will also hold a silent march in Jaipur on Monday demanding reduction in VAT and increase in dealer commission.
