Srinagar, August 6 (KDC): Amidst the ongoing speculation about the tenure of Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, it is clarified that the Constitution of India is Jammu -Kachu, which includes Jammu and Kashmir.

According to a report published in Daily excelsierA Jammu-based newspaper, legal experts have stated that Article 156 of the Constitution specifies a five-year term for the governors of the states, also mentioned that they hold the post “during the President’s happiness”. In contrast, Article 239, which controls the center areas, is silent on the duration of the office for lieutenant governors, allowing them to continue in the office at the discretion of the President without any specified time limit.

Sources further said that the J&K Reorganization Act, 2019, does not even fix any term for the Lieutenant Governor. It states that the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir’s erstwhile state J&K and Ladakh will work as LG “” can be determined by the President for such a period. ” The official communal was also silent on his tenure, announcing the appointment of Manoj Sinha on August 6, 2020.

Under Section 53 of the Reorganization Act, the LG of J&K has considerable authority, including independent action on cases beyond the legislative domain of the assembly.
