Patna, Oct 23 (IANS) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday addressed an election rally in support of JD-U candidate Randhir Singh at Narpaliya playground in Manjhi block of Saran district.

During his speech, Nitish Kumar highlighted two decades of developmental achievements of his government and appealed to the people to once again strengthen the NDA government for the continued progress of Bihar.

The Chief Minister said that Bihar is no longer the state it used to be in the 1990s.

Nitish said, “Earlier people used to lock themselves in their homes after sunset due to fear and anarchy. Today there is peace, security and development in every corner of Bihar. This change has been possible only with your support.”

Citing progress in various sectors including education, health, infrastructure, electricity and drinking water, he claimed that roads have reached every village and almost every household has tap water and electricity.

He also highlighted 125 units of free electricity to every household and claimed that bills have become zero for about 1.7 crore families in the state.

Laying special emphasis on girls’ education, Nitish Kumar said that due to the government’s initiatives, there has been a significant increase in female enrollment in schools and colleges.

He said that women empowerment and employment generation are his main priorities.

He said, “My aim is to make Bihar a self-reliant and developed state so that our youth do not have to migrate to other states or abroad for employment.”

The Chief Minister urged the people to vote for the NDA alliance and stressed that only a stable and experienced government can ensure continuity of development and welfare programmes.

Before the assembly elections, Nitish Kumar is actively campaigning across Bihar.

Earlier this week, he reiterated his commitment to development, good governance and social harmony while addressing two consecutive rallies in Meenapur block of Muzaffarpur and in Gopalganj district.
