Nissan partners with Akshay Patra, serves 50 lakh nutritious meals to Delhi school children

Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd. (NMIPL) and Akshaya Patra Foundation (TAPF), a leading Indian non-profit organization collaborated to promote nutrition of school children in New Delhi in January 2023.

This joint effort aimed at creating a healthy and educated workforce is positively impacting the lives of thousands of children.

Main Project Highlights

  • 50 lakh nutritious meals: Thanks to NMIPL’s support, TAPF to provide 50 lakh nutritious meals to students in 2023.
  • Benefits to 49,000+ students: From January to December 2023, more than 49,000 students from low-income communities have benefited from this program.

Nissan’s sponsored school feeding programme, effectively run through four Akshaya Patra kitchens in New Delhi, is in line with the government’s mid-day meal initiative. It addresses important issues like food security, increased nutrition, increased school attendance and reduction in school dropout rates.

The program’s impact on reducing micronutrient deficiencies and strengthening children’s immunity against infections has been substantial. Regular midday meals have improved overall health, reduced the prevalence of anemia and promoted healthy development. Well-nourished children are not only excelling academically; They are also paving the way for a brighter and healthier future.
