Nawazuddin Siddiqui has made it clear that he does not want to accept smaller roles. The actor in a recent interview with Galatta Plus said that small roles are good for beginners but after a while, every actor aspires to play big roles.

“In Bollywood, there are big and small roles and my quota of small roles has ended. Why shouldn’t I play bigger roles now? Every actor wants to play bigger roles and small roles are just the beginning. In the beginning It’s okay, but every actor wants to play a bigger role. If I ask a star to play a small role in my movie, will he do it?” he said.

Narvaez then referenced Christopher Nolan’s portrayal of Oppenheimer, explaining that sometimes small roles also require the talent and expertise of a seasoned actor. However, Nawazuddin believes that is not the case with many Bollywood films. He criticized the lack of dialogue in Hindi films and added: “I liked the dialogue that happened in Oppenheimer because here we have a dialogue-oriented approach. We were more concerned with punch in the dialogue. We lacked Dialogue, that’s the hardest thing to do on camera.”

He then argued that Indian filmmakers work based on audience preferences and suggested that this should not be the case. “We can’t make everything according to the audience’s preferences. This is the age of Instagram, and if we only care about the audience’s preferences, we have to lower our film IQ.” He concluded.
