New Delhi, October 24 (IANS) The Union Home Ministry is planning a grand event at Ekta Nagar in Gujarat on National Unity Day on October 31 to highlight the spirit of harmony and patriotism while celebrating the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. An official gave this information on Friday.
The day underlines the unity, integrity and national cohesion of India by paying tribute to Patel’s important role in uniting 562 princely states and laying the foundation of modern India.
This year’s celebrations will include a grand parade and cultural festival. During the parade, the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and state police forces will showcase their skill, discipline and valor, a statement said.
This year’s National Unity Day Parade will include contingents from the Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) along with police forces from the states of Assam, Tripura, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir. Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and NCC.
The parade will also include cavalry and camel-mounted contingents, display of indigenous dog breeds and various martial arts and unarmed combat exercises.
The parade will also highlight the participation of women police officers and personnel. The guard of honor given to Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be led by a woman officer.
The statement said that women personnel of CISF and CRPF will perform martial arts and unarmed combat exercises, showcasing the strength and courage of India’s daughters.
This year’s parade will also include a marching contingent consisting of exclusively Indian breed dogs of BSF, horse squad of Gujarat Police, motorcycle daredevil show of Assam Police and the camel squad and camel mounted band of BSF will be the major attractions.
Additionally, indigenous dog breeds – Rampur Hounds and Mudhol Hounds – will showcase their skills. The official statement said that these breeds have contributed significantly as force multipliers during BSF operations, symbolizing the spirit of self-reliant India.
Recently, in the All India Police Dog Competition, Mudhol Hound “Riya” won the first position and will lead the dog squad in this year’s parade.
To make this year’s parade more spectacular, brass bands of BSF, CRPF, CISF, SSB, Delhi Police, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Jammu and Kashmir will also participate.
This year the parade will include five Shaurya Chakra awardees of CRPF and 16 gallantry medal winners of BSF. These brave men displayed extraordinary courage in anti-Naxal operations in Jharkhand and anti-terrorist operations in Jammu and Kashmir. During Operation Sindoor on the Western Border, BSF soldiers displayed unmatched bravery and gallantry.
Along with the parade, a cultural program organized by the Ministry of Culture will see 900 artistes performing classical dances of India, highlighting the rich diversity of our culture and national unity.
