The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday conducted searches at nine locations in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir to investigate a terror-related case.
The raids, which began early on Monday, were carried out in collaboration with security forces at multiple locations linked to individuals linked to terrorism as part of the agency’s 2022 registration of cases.
Counter-terrorism agencies launched searches based on specific information received about certain suspects residing in Srinagar.
The raids came nearly a month after the NIA filed charges against two accused in the Kokenaga (Jammu and Kashmir) encounter case.
Sources said the suspects in the case were associated with the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) offshoot the Resistance Front (TRF).
Both LeT and TRF are banned organizations and have been involved in constant incitement and motivation of Kashmiri youth to join terrorist organizations in the name of “jihad”.
The two groups operate on social media platforms such as Twitter, Telegram and Youtube channels to promote their cause and lure unemployed youth to carry out terrorist activities.
LeT is the largest terrorist organization established in the early 1990s and is actively working to revive the network in the Anantnag region.
It is working in various branches in Jammu and Kashmir.
