A suspect has appeared in court charged with manslaughter after a man died after being attacked at an Edinburgh bus station.

Nashir Ahmed, 65, and his friend were approached and assaulted by another man on the city’s Ferry Road at around 8.30pm on Sunday, March 10, Scotland The police launched an investigation.

Mr Ahmed died at the Royal Hospital Edinburgh Friday, March 15th.

His friend, a 48-year-old man, suffered serious leg and facial injuries and was treated and released.

Thursday night, police Scotland It was announced that a 38-year-old man had been arrested in connection with the case.

Suspect Daniel Springer appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Friday charged with manslaughter and assault with serious injury.

Springer, of no fixed abode, did not enter a plea to both charges and was remanded in custody.

He will return to the dock within eight days of his first court appearance.

Following Mr Ahmed’s death, his family released a statement through Police Scotland.

They said: “Nasir was a loving husband and father.

“He was an important part of our family and we are devastated by his loss.

“He was actively involved in the Bangladeshi community in Edinburgh and will be greatly missed.

“He loved life and cared about his family and friends. We will always remember his warmth and kindness.”
