Even as Shivam Dube continues his excellent form with the bat, Chennai Super Kings suffered their second consecutive defeat in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 . The all-rounder scored a stunning 24-ball 45 but his dismissal resulted in CSK being restricted to 165/5 by Sunrisers Hyderabad on Friday. While Abhishek Sharma’s blitzkrieg provided the most entertainment to the fans in the match, Dube got support from Yuvraj Singh for selection India’s 2024 World Cup T20 squad. The Indian Premier League is seen as an ideal platform for Indian players to showcase their talent in the shortest possible format to secure a spot in the World Cup squad and Yuvraj is hopeful that Dube will make it into the squad.

On Friday, Yuvraj took to social media to appeal for Dubey to be selected in the Indian team for the exhibition match to be held in June this year.

As for the match, it was decided by Abhishek’s batting masterclass in just 12 balls after a clinical bowling performance by the Sunrisers. Chasing 166, Travis Head and Abhishek gave it their all in the opening innings of the powerplay match. Head and Aiden Markram then showed composure in the remainder of the over as they picked their chances to score and take SRH home.

For CSK, Shivam Dube top-scored with 45 runs in 24 deliveries while Ajinkya Rahane scored a crucial 35 runs in 30 deliveries. Bhuvneshwar, T Natarajan, Pat Cummins and Jaydev Unadkat took one wicket each as SRH restricted CSK to a middle-order total.

Veteran pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar drew the first blood for SRH, taking the big wicket of Rachin Ravindra in the 12th. Captain Pat Cummins’ decision to bring Shahbaz Ahmed’s spin ability into the match proved successful as he dismissed Ruturaj in the first ball ·Ruturaj Gaikwad. It’s over on the 8th.
