Musk’s xAI will enable chatbot Grok for all X Premium subscribers

Elon Musk said on Tuesday that artificial intelligence startup xAI’s chatbot Grok will be enabled for all premium subscribers of social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.

He announced the news in a post on X but gave no further details. Previously, the chatbot was only available to premium subscribers.

As more advertisers abandon the Weibo platform, the billionaire has emphasized reducing the company’s reliance on advertising and shifting its focus to more attractive subscription plans.

Earlier this month, Musk said xAI would open source Grok after he sued OpenAI for allegedly abandoning its original mission and adopting a for-profit model.

The move would allow the public to freely try the code behind the technology and bring xAI in line with companies like Meta and France’s Mistral, both of which have open source artificial intelligence models.
