Nico Ali Walsh, grandson of the greatest of all time, mohammed aliToday in the 50th anniversary show of ‘Thrilla in Manila’, the match against Kittisak Klinson ended in a draw.

After 14 grueling, brutal rounds of back-and-forth action in 1975, Frazier retired to his stool inside the intensely heated Araneta Coliseum in Manila and crowned Ali the better of the two legendary champions.
Today, at the same ground, in a tribute to his late grandfather, Walsh fought with all his heart and even pulled out the family’s signature ‘Ali Shuffle’ in the final round, electrifying the fans in attendance.
Despite it being a family legacy fight, Walsh (10-2-1, 6 KOs) faced tougher opposition than expected, and Clinson challenged in the early rounds – pushing the pace and trying to spoil the party.

But such is his legacy, Walsh weathered the early storm and came back cheered by chants of ‘Ali’ from the crowd.
It was not to be as the judges scored it 75–77 in favor of Clinson and 76–76 in favor of the others for a majority decision draw.
Walsh was surprised that he was not allowed, but was even more impressed by the support he received from those present at the ground.
“I thought it was a clear win,” Walsh said after the fight. “I’m glad the fans enjoyed the fight. I thought it was an impressive performance. I was surprised by the decision.
