After the game started, DC won the toss and elected to bat first. David Warner (52 off 35 balls, including 5 fours and 3 sixes) and the returning Prithvi Shaw (43 off 27 balls, 4 boundaries and 2 sixes) started well with an opening partnership of 93 runs.
