MP: Tribal man hospitalized after being beaten over land dispute; man and his two sons jailed

A tribal man in Madhya Pradesh’s Satna allegedly assaulted three family members after he asked them to move out of their ancestral land and open a grocery store on the land as per an agreement, police said on Friday. “The trio severely beat the tribal man after he demanded the return of the leased land belonging to his mother,” he said. Based on a complaint filed by the victim, Santosh Kol (37), a case was registered against the three accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act . They were identified as Naval Singh and his two sons Ratneesh Singh and Gyanendra Singh were arrested on Friday, said Sudeep Soni, in-charge of Kolgawan police station.

The victim suffered a broken leg and was taken to hospital, the official added.
