Kyiv:
Ukraine said on Friday it had repatriated the remains of nearly 60 soldiers killed in Russia’s invasion.
“Another repatriation took place and 58 fallen defenders returned to Ukraine from Russian-controlled territory,” the POW Coordination Headquarters said.
It posted photos of white trucks with red cross emblems on their windshields.
“Special thanks to the International Committee of the Red Cross for their assistance,” the post added.
After the Russian invasion in 2022, the two sides regularly exchanged prisoners and repatriated bodies.
At the end of January, Ukraine said it had found the bodies of 77 Ukrainian soldiers.
The January repatriation came shortly after the crash of a Russian military plane that Moscow said was carrying Ukrainian prisoners of war and was shot down by Kiev.
Ukraine has questioned whether Ukrainian soldiers were actually on the plane and said Moscow never informed it in advance that its prisoners would be flown near the border.
The two repatriations of bodies do not appear to be related to the plane crash.
