Motorola will use Corning Gorilla Glass across its entire product portfolio in 2024

Motorola announced a new deal with Corning at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024 that will see the company use Gorilla Glass across its entire product portfolio by 2024. This will include smartphones and tablets launched this year. Starting later this year, the devices will come with Gorilla Glass protection. The company also launched Smart Connect, a software that connects smartphones, PCs and tablets in a unified ecosystem that will help users easily connect Motorola devices with Lenovo’s laptop products.

The company has made announcement Through its newsroom, it highlighted that “beginning later this year, the entire 2024 Motorola device portfolio will feature Corning Gorilla Glass.” Prior to this deal, only expensive Motorola smartphones featured display protection, but the price Cheaper phones don’t. The move will see the company’s entry-level devices also come with Gorilla Glass.

The company added: “This partnership builds on Lenovo’s collaboration with Corning in laptops and tablets, which includes Gorilla Glass on some Lenovo laptops and tablets.”

While the announcement didn’t mention what kind of Gorilla Glass will be used, Report by 9to5Google emphasized that in the MWC demonstration, the company showed off Gorilla Glass 5 and Gorilla Glass Victus 2. For users, this move will result in a more scratch- and drop-resistant display, even in the budget segment, but it’s unclear if it will have an impact on the price.

Showing off some of the features users can access through Smart Connect, Motorola highlighted Crossover Control, which will allow the use of a single keyboard and mouse between phones, laptops and tablets. The Sliding Flow feature will allow users to select any app or activity from one device to another in a seamless manner. Other features mentioned include notification sync, sharing center, smart clipboard, and more.
