Motorola Edge 50 Ultra confirmed to be equipped with new Qualcomm chipset

Motorola has announced that it will host an event on April 16 to unveil the Edge 50 series. Motorola Edge 50 Ultra, Edge 50 Fusion, and Edge 50 Pro are expected to be officially launched in global markets at the event. The Motorola Edge 50 Pro powered by Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 SoC was launched in India earlier this month. The Chinese electronics brand has now shared a teaser that offers hints about the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra chipset, without confirming the phone’s name. The upcoming phone is expected to be an upgrade over the Motorola Edge 30 ultra.

The company has officially tease View the Motorola Edge 50 series through the X-pillar. According to the post, Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC will power the Edge series of phones. While Motorola didn’t reveal the exact name of the phone, it’s clear that the Ultra version will be powered by this SoC. Past leaks and recent Geekbench benchmark listings also suggest that the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra runs on the same Snapdragon 8-series chipset.

The Motorola Edge 50 Ultra appeared on Geekbench earlier this week with a single-core CPU score of 1,947 and a multi-core score of 5,149. The listing shows one high-performance core with a top clock speed of 3.01GHz, four cores clocked at up to 2.80GHz, and three cores clocked at up to 2.02GHz. These CPU speeds relate to the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC. The listing suggests the device comes with 12GB RAM and Android 14 operating system.

According to past leaks, the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra will feature a triple rear camera setup that includes a 50-megapixel primary sensor. The phone is said to feature a 6.7-inch OLED display with a refresh rate of 165Hz.

Motorola Edge 50 Ultra is expected to be the most premium phone in the upcoming Edge 50 series. It may debut in the US as Motorola Edge+ 2024 or Edge Ultra 2024, priced around $999 (roughly Rs. 83,000).
