More than 1,000 cyclists in Srinagar participate in "Cyclothon, Pedle for Peace"

In a historic public event that radiates a sense of peace, fitness and solidarity, “Cyclothon – Pedle for Peace” was held in Srinagar today, attracted to more than 1,000 cycle drivers from diverse age groups and backgrounds.

The event was terminated by the Minister of FCS & CA, IT, Youth Services and Sports, Satish Sharma from the juicy Greens of the Police Golf Course, the closing at the Astro Turf Ground TRC, amidst the concluding, cheers, enthusiasm and a festive atmosphere.

Due to being organized by Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, the program was a lively part of the government’s mission to promote communal harmony, youth engagement and fitness culture in the entire region.

Addressing the gathering, Satish Sharma said, “This cyclothon is more than just a game event, but it is a peaceful and united is a symbolic journey towards Jammu and Kashmir. It shows the flexibility and ability of our youth. Through such incidents, we aim to channel our energy in creative, national building activities.”

“This incident has confirmed our belief that the youth of Jammu and Kashmir are eager for positive engagement and want to be a part of a peaceful and progressive journey”, the minister retained.

The Sports Minister said that Cyclothon was organized by President JK Sports Council, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who himself is a fond game and fit person. He said that the event is also a symbol of peaceful messengers of Jammu and Kashmir. He further announced that such community-oriented and young-managed events would now be held weekly in different parts of the center region to ensure continuous engagement and outreach.

The event saw the presence of prominent public representatives and administrative officials who gave their full support for the initiative.

Among the dignitaries, MLA Farooq Shah, Dr. Shafi, Tanveer Sadiq, Ehsan Pardesi and Mushtaq Guru, Commissioner Secretary, Youth Services and Sports Sarmad Hafiz, Secretary, J&K Sports Council Nujat Gul, Kazi Irfan, Rato Kashmir were also present.

Senior officials of Sports Council, Traffic Police, Health Services and Local Administration also participated in the event.

The participants were from young school and college students, amateur cycle drivers, sports clubs and professional athletes; All united under a common cause: pedaling for a better tomorrow. Carefully cuisted through the sightseeing lane of Srinagar was a line with assistant employees and volunteers, which ensures the safety, hydration and morale of bicycles.

The minister, later, distributed free cycles among the largest and youngest participants.

Percently, Cyclothon -Pedal for Peace marked the onset of a calendar of events cured by J&K Sports Council, which will include marathon, yoga camps, sports tournaments, awareness drives and fitness workshops, which aims to be aimed at community, health awareness and social flexibility.
