Gandhi stressed that now is the time for change and to reaffirm the resolve of the Grand Alliance for justice. He recently made this comment in a post on X along with a video of his interaction with the youth of Bihar.
“A few days ago, I had a very interesting conversation with the youth of Bihar on every issue – education, health, employment. And, there is only one to blame for the poor situation in all these matters – the BJP-JDU government,” the leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha said in his post in Hindi.
“The youth of Bihar know very well that in the last 20 years, this Modi-Nitish government has strangled their aspirations, abandoned the state and pushed it into the abyss on every parameter,” he said.
Gandhi pointed out that on the education front, Bihar ranks 27th out of 29 states in terms of school dropout rate from classes 9 to 10; In enrollment rates in classes 11 and 12, it ranks 28th out of 29 states; And in female literacy the state ranks 28th out of 29 states.
On the job front, Bihar ranks 21st in terms of employment in the services sector; He said, whereas in the industry/manufacturing sector it is at 23rd place.
The former Congress chief also said that in terms of infant mortality rate, Bihar ranks 27th out of 29 in terms of health coverage through insurance schemes; And it ranks 29th in terms of access to toilets in households.
He further informed that on the human development front, Bihar ranks 27th in terms of Human Development Index (HDI) and 25th in terms of per capita income.
“These are not just numbers; they are a mirror, a rear-view mirror that shows how much this ‘double engine’ has held Bihar back from progress. All the Bihari youth I met are extremely talented and intelligent. With their abilities and hard work, they can shine anywhere, but the government has given them unemployment and despair instead of opportunities.”
Gandhi said, “Now is the time for change, to rekindle the pride of Bihar. It is time to reiterate the resolve of the Grand Alliance for justice.”
In his conversation with students from Bihar studying in Delhi, Gandhi asks whether they have really been forced to opt out of state studies and gets the answer in the affirmative. The youth cited the condition of educational institutions in the state.
In the video, a student highlighted the discrimination and said that the word “Bihari” is used as an abuse in the universities here. A student talked about negative profiling of the state.
Voting for the 243-member Bihar Assembly will be held in two phases on November 6 and November 11 and the results will be declared on November 14.
