A 15-year-old girl was allegedly abducted and raped by two youths who threw her from a height after she filed a police complaint in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior district, officials said on Friday.
He said the teen suffered serious injuries from the fall. The incident occurred in Dabra Town in the district on January 29, when the girl was on her way to a cram school.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (ASP) Niranjan Sharma said two youths allegedly abducted her on a motorcycle and later raped her.
When she protested and called the police, the two threw her from a height, causing serious injuries to her back. She was admitted to a private hospital, he said.
Sharma said that based on the complaint lodged by the girl on Thursday, an FIR (first information report) was registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act and Section 376 D (gang rape) of the Indian Penal Code and Adding that a hunt is on to nab the accused.
Meanwhile, Congress leader and former chief minister Kamal Nath on Friday posted on social media platform X that the abduction and gang-rape of a Class 10 student in Gwalior has brought shame to the state.
He wrote that the recurrence of such incidents raises serious questions about the law and order situation in the state.
