Three Indian-origin men embark on a cross-border journey drug trafficking Local reports say they have been arrested in Canada and face extradition to the United States.

The criminal smuggling operation involved drug suppliers with ties to Mexican drug cartels, brokers and distributors in Los Angeles and Canadian truck drivers, U.S. Attorney Martin Estrada told a news conference.

Ayush, 25, from Brampton, and Subham, 29, from Calgary, allegedly worked as truck drivers for cross-border smuggling, while Ghulamrit, 60, oversaw the entire drug shipment.

According to reports, all 10 people arrested in drug cases will be extradited to the United States.

Officials said Ghulamrit was involved in wholesale purchasing large quantities of drugs from Mexico and Los Angeles and using a trucking network to transport the drugs to Canada. He was reportedly known as “The King” among his colleagues.

They added that Canadian “handlers” and “dispatchers” used to make short trips to Los Angeles, where they would coordinate the pickup and delivery of methamphetamine and cocaine shipments using trucks bound for Canada.

The transportation network includes drivers from dozens of trucking companies who cross the U.S.-Canada border via the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel, Buffalo Peace Bridge and Blue Water Bridge.

US data shows the gang trafficked nearly 1 kilogram of cocaine, 4 kilograms of heroin, 20 kilograms of fentanyl and 845 kilograms of methamphetamine, worth more than $16 million.

The police also confiscated 70 kilograms of cocaine, 4 kilograms of heroin and 940,000 in cash on the spot.
