Meryl Streep will return as Broadway star Loretta Durkin in Murder in the Building Season 4. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the news on Thursday, highlighting Streep’s return to the hit Hulu series. 20th Television president Karey Burke mentioned on Friday’s episode of THR’s Top 5 podcast that Streep will be back next season because she’s having such a great time. “The third season ended dramatically in October 2023, with fans introduced to Loretta as she developed a romance with Oliver Putnam (Martin Short) and received an offer to work in Los Angeles,” Burke said.

In February, Deadline announced that SNL alum Molly Shannon would be joining the cast for the new season. Shannon will play a businesswoman who is drawn into the investigative world of New York. Although Jesse Williams, who appeared in Season 3, has not been confirmed to return, co-creator John Hoffman expressed hope to see him and Streep again.

In addition to Jane Lynch’s Streep, Saaz Pataki may also reappear via flashback after being murdered in the season three finale. According to THR , Saz’s death is likely to be a major plot point in the upcoming season as Mabel, Charles, and Oliver search for answers.

Hoffman believes that what is created is something to be shown to the world, and sometimes the world is unprepared for the impact of what that thing might do and how they feel about it, as Hoffman told the publication.

According to Deadline , the show will film briefly in Los Angeles before returning to the Arconia Hotel in downtown New York City. A release date for Season 4 has yet to be announced.

“L.A. Touchstone is intentional, and I don’t know yet how we’ll see that, but there might be an exciting way to do that. I don’t have a plan for that yet,” Huffman told TheWrap in October, adding that Mabel , Charles and Oliver are awaiting Season 4’s “Very New Circumstances.”

The first three seasons of the show are available to watch on Hulu.
