Ravindra Jadeja is a very important cog in the plans of the Chennai Super Kings. With MS Dhoni relinquishing the captaincy of the five-time IPL champions, current skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad will have to rely on veteran Jadeja to lead the team forward. Jadeja was earlier also captained by CSK in 2022 but he resigned after eight games and MS Dhoni took over again. In CSK’s first match of IPL 2024, Jadeja scored a crucial 25* and conceded only 21 runs in four overs.
He recently had a hilarious Instagram joke with his wife Rivaba. She posted a picture on Instagram with Jadeja’s picture in the background. On that picture, Jadeja commented: “Mera hukum hai room aao jaldi (My order has been delivered to the room)”. Rivaba was wearing a T-shirt that said “Hukum.”
Two years ago, Super Kings made a similar change with Ravindra Jadeja replacing Dhoni at the helm. However, the decision had to be reversed midway through the 2022 IPL campaign as Jadeja failed to impress as captain. CSK head coach Stephen Fleming now hopes Jadeja can play a supporting role in the team to new captain Gaikwad.

Fleming revealed that this decision was made by Dhoni after careful consideration. The wicketkeeper-batsman later announced the news to his teammates at the dinner table and then informed the management.
The CSK coach feels Ruturaj’s promotion will not have any impact on Jadeja and she will still be a “tough character”.
Fleming said: “The two balls that Jadeja hit in the last two balls of the last IPL made him a legend for CSK. Jadeja is a tough character and he has a lot of leadership in him, Rutu Raj will definitely get his help.”
When asked about the reason for Ruturaj’s appointment, the coach added: “Ruturaj is very confident, he has a great attitude towards other payers and is well respected in the team.”
Dhoni had been facing injury issues towards the end of last year and there were doubts over his fitness in the run-up to the new season. However, Tara’s desires superseded his limitations.
“He’s physically stronger than he was last season and the most amazing thing about him is his stamina and hunger. His ability to come back time and time again is almost contagious. Coupled with the skill set he still has, he’s hitting the ball all the time Nice shot into the net,” Fleming said.
