The rath (chariot), built on a Toyota Sienna minivan, will carry statues of Hindu gods, including Lord Ram, Goddess Sita, Lord Lakshman and Lord Hanuman.

According to the Press Trust of India, the Canadian portion of the Ratha Yatra is a separate segment organized by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad of Canada and will travel to more than 150 temples across Canada.

Tejal Shah of the Hindu Temple Empowerment Committee (HMEC) said: “The objective of this Rath Yatra is to create awareness, education and empowerment of Hindu Dharma”.

“It is important for us, especially our next generation, to remain united and strong in our movement to raise awareness and spread Hindu Dharma around the world,” Tegal added.
