Meet India’s youngest billionaires from the Hurun Global Rich List 2025—both have a net worth of ₹8,643 crore | Company Business News

Hurun Global Rich List 2025: The Hurun Global Rich List 2025 has revealed that India is home to 284 billionaires, including two who are just 34 years old.

Razorpay co-founders Shashank Kumar and Harshil Mathur, both aged 34, are India’s youngest billionaires, each with a net worth of ₹8,643 crore.

Meanwhile, China’s youngest billionaire, Wang Zelong, who shares the same net worth as the Razorpay co-founders, is 29 years old.

The Hurun Global Rich List 2025 states that the average age of India’s billionaires is 68, slightly higher than the global average of 66.

Razorpay founders shine in Hurun Global Rich List 2025

According to his LinkedIn profile, Harshil Mathur met his “friend” and “partner in crime”, Shashank Kumar, while they were students at IIT Roorkee. Together, they founded Razorpay in 2014 in Bengaluru.

Before launching Razorpay, Kumar worked as a software development engineer at Microsoft, while Mathur was a wireline field engineer at Schlumberger.

By the end of 2021, Razorpay secured approximately $375 million in its Series F funding round, reaching a valuation of $7.5 billion. The company is backed by prominent investors, including GIC, Sequoia Capital, Ribbit Capital, Matrix Partners, Tiger Global, and Y Combinator.

Hurun Global Rich List 2025: Roshni Nadar scripts history

Roshni Nadar, the chairperson of HCL Technologies, has etched her place in the top ranks of India’s wealthiest individuals, securing third place with a net worth of INR 3.5 lakh crore.

Mukesh Ambani slips; Elon Musk still at the top

Mukesh Ambani dropped out of the top 10 wealthiest list. According to the latest Hurun Global Rich List 2025, his wealth declined by ₹1 lakh crore from last year due to rising debt levels.

Meanwhile, Trump’s DOGE major domo, Elon Musk, has retained the top spot with a $420 billion net worth. Musk was followed by Mark Zuckerberg, and Jeff Bezos, who ranked second and third respectively.

India’s billionaire ranks swell

As of 2025, India is home to 284 billionaires, marking an increase of 13 from the previous year. The nation further accounts for 56 per cent of self-made billionaires.

According to the Hurun Global Rich List, the total wealth of India’s billionaires now stands at INR 98 lakh crore, which accounts for approximately one-third of the nation’s GDP, surpassing even Saudi Arabia’s GDP.

Mumbai remains the leader in billionaire numbers, with 90 billionaires, although it has lost its title as Asia’s billionaire capital to Shanghai. Meanwhile, cities like Bengaluru and Pune are also emerging as key players in this expanding billionaire landscape, with several notable individuals, such as Harshil Mathur, and Shashank Kumar rising from these locations.
