martin lewis has issued a warning to 83 lakh people universal credit (UC), which they say effectively prevents them from switching bank accounts.
The founder of MoneySavingExpert has written to Work and Pensions Secretary Pat McFadden urging the Government to investigate.
Lewis says people on UC may be prevented from taking advantage of incentives to switch bank accounts, which could improve their financial situation. They raised issues such as some claimants being told they must have an in-person Jobcentre appointment to switch, and that the UC system has not been fully updated to include digital banks.
