Married American teacher was accused of sexual abuse after riding naked in car with students

A married substitute teacher was arrested after she was found naked in the back seat of a car with a teenage boy in Nebraska. new york post reported. According to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office, around 3 a.m. on April 13, police received a report of a suspicious vehicle parked on a cul-de-sac near Bennington. When officers arrived, they found 45-year-old Erin Ward and a 17-year-old boy in the back seat of a Honda sedan.

The boy, who was not wearing any clothes, jumped into the driver’s seat and fled the scene, then crashed the vehicle two blocks away before fleeing on foot. However, more than an hour later, he was found in a nearby neighborhood, wearing only underwear and a T-shirt.

Meanwhile, Ward remained at the scene and allegedly admitted to having sex with the boy, who she identified as 17 years old and a student at a high school where she worked.

She was arrested and jailed on a felony charge of sexual abuse of a school employee. Deputies later discovered the vehicle involved in the incident belonged to Ward and her spouse.

After the crash, the victim fled on foot, and both Ward and the 17-year-old received minor medical attention, according to the release.

The investigation is ongoing and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said it is working closely with Omaha Public Schools. The school also released a statement from Burke Principal Darren Rasmussen regarding the situation:

“We are writing to let you know that law enforcement has arrested a metro area substitute teacher for inappropriate behavior with a minor. The individual worked at Burke High School for several days during the 2023-24 school year. They are not Will return to our school and will not come back to anyone else in our area.
