Manipur man killed after being hit by Assam Rifles vehicle a day after becoming a father

A press release issued by the Imphal police said that a local man was killed when a Hengbung AR postal vehicle of 16 Assam Rifles Maram hit him down on Monday.

The Assam Rifles truck hit the victim, identified as 21-year-old Mahaingam Horam of Tingsong Central village, around 8:30 am, the release added.

According to a press release, the victim succumbed to his injuries at a location near Sreenapati district council, police station and below Senapati district along NH-02.

The truck fled towards Mao Zedong. The body has been sent to Senapati District Hospital.

After learning that the car belonged to the Assam Rifles and that they were fleeing in a hit-and-run case, a mob reached the police station.

Due to the prompt action of the Senapati PS team, both the vehicle and the driver were detained by the police team in Naga.
