Maneka Gandhi says: ‘Happy to join BJP’

Days after BJP MP Varun Gandhi was denied a ticket from his constituency, his mother and fellow BJP MP Maneka Gandhi broke her silence during a 10-day visit to Sultanpur in Uttar Pradesh and Expressed pleasure to be a member of the party.

When asked what Varun Gandhi would do now, she replied: “Ask him what he wants to do. We will think about it after the elections. There is still time.”

“I am happy that I have joined the BJP. I am grateful to Amit Shah, Prime Minister Modi and Nadda Ji for giving me this ticket. The ticket was announced very late, so I was in a dilemma. Where should I fight. From Pilibhit or Sultanpur. I am grateful to the party for the decision it has taken now,” she said.

She further added, “I am happy to be back in Sultanpur as this place has a history and no Congress MP has come to power again in Sultanpur.”

This was her first visit to Sultanpur after getting her ticket. During her 10-day visit to the region, she will visit 101 villages across the Lok Sabha constituency.

She was warmly welcomed by party leaders and workers in Katka Guptarganj, Tatianagar, Tedhui, Golaghat, Shahganj Square, Dariyapur Tiraha, Payagipur Square and other places.

During this time, Maneka Gandhi also paid homage to the statues of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay.

Bharatiya Janata Party district president Dr. RA Verma, BJP state minister Meena Choubey, Lok Sabha chief Durgesh Tripathi, Lok Sabha convener Jagjit Singh Changu, MLA Raj Prasad Upadhyay, MLA Rajesh Gautam and spokesperson Vijay Raghuvanshi were present.

Earlier, Varun Gandhi wrote a heartfelt letter to the people of his constituency saying that his association with Pilibhit in Uttar Pradesh will not end till his last breath.
