A murder investigation is underway after a man was stabbed to death near Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in north London.

this Metropolitan Police Police were called to Northumberland Park in Haringey at around 6am on Sunday after a man was found unconscious.

Police found the man suffering from multiple stab wounds and despite attempts by paramedics to resuscitate him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police believe they have identified the victim and are working to notify his next of kin.

No one was arrested.

Tottenham’s Premier League match against Nottingham Forest continues on Sunday night, but the club is asking fans to remain patient due to road closures around the stadium.

“This afternoon’s Premier League match against Nottingham Forest will go ahead as scheduled but the whole of Northumberland Park Road and Vicarage Road and the northern end of Worcester Avenue will remain closed at all times.

“We will keep supporters updated where possible and ask fans to remain patient and allow extra travel time. Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and all those affected.”

Chief Inspector Stephen Johnston-Key said: “Our thoughts are with this man who tragically lost his life.

“I can assure local people that specialist detectives are investigating and will spare no effort to find out what happened to him and to identify and arrest those responsible.”

There was a heavy police presence around the stadium as supporters arrived to watch the match.

Some police and forensic officers were working inside the cordon, while others spoke to residents and directed fans away from the area.
