Two men have been jailed after raping a missing vulnerable woman in Birmingham.

Fabrice Mpata and Rigobert Ngambe were each sentenced to 16 years in prison for sexually assaulting the woman, who did not speak English, in August 2022 .

Mpata was driving in Winson Green when he met the woman who made it clear she was lost.

He then lured her into his car and said he would take her home.

However, he drove her to an address in Bellwood where he took her inside and raped her.

He then pretended to take her home again, causing her to get back into his car.

Mpata then drove her to an address in Newtown where he raped her again.

She was also raped by Ngombe inside the property.

The two eventually let her leave, and she alerted passers-by, who took her to hospital.

West Midlands Police said officers were able to trace Mpata and Ngombe after extensive work using DNA evidence.

Mpata later admitted to picking up the woman but claimed it was because she was lost and upset.

He denied any sexual contact with her.

Ngombe admitted to having sex with the woman but tried to convince police it was consensual during the interview.

However, police disputed this claim on the grounds that the woman did not speak English and was therefore unable to consent.

Both men were placed on the sex offenders’ register for life.
