Nagpur:

A 36-year-old woman from Nagpur has accused a man of impersonating an Indian Air Force officer and extorting nearly Rs 4 lakh from her after taking her intimate photos and videos, an official said on Sunday.

Based on the woman’s complaint, the police on Sunday registered a case against the accused Shyam Supatkar on multiple charges including rape and extortion under the Indian Penal Code.

The woman told police that she met the accused about four years ago, who created a fake profile on Facebook in the name of Shyam Verma.

The accused claimed that he was an Indian Air Force officer posted in Gujarat but was living in Nagpur. The two finally decided to meet.

During the meeting, Supatkar allegedly gave her a drink containing a sedative, rendering her unconscious. She said he then took intimate photos and videos of her.

Officials from the Ajeni police station said Supatkar allegedly threatened to post the woman’s photos and videos on social media unless she complied with his demands.

The woman claimed that the accused took away Rs 4 lakh in cash and some gold and silver jewelery from her possession.

The woman contacted police after learning the man was not an Air Force officer, he said, adding that Supatkar had not yet been arrested.
