Husband arrested for murder, under investigation

A man in Sabah, Malaysia, allegedly set his wife on fire after an argument while they were drinking at home.according to South China Morning Postthe incident occurred on Saturday when the couple got into an argument while drinking distillationa local alcoholic beverage.

A police investigation found the wife challenged her husband to set her on fire during a verbal argument that got out of hand. He then reportedly doused his wife with gasoline before lighting the match. The couple’s 16-year-old daughter tried to put out the fire on her mother and was helped by her uncle. She also managed to get her two younger siblings out of the house.

The woman was taken to a clinic for initial treatment before being transferred to Keningau Hospital for further treatment. However, the 41-year-old woman succumbed to her injuries at the Keningau District Hospital on Sunday, 16 hours after the incident.

Keningau district police chief Superintendent Yampil Anak Garai said, “At 1:41 pm on Sunday, the Keningau Hospital confirmed the death of the victim.”

Meanwhile, the 50-year-old husband was arrested for murder and is under investigation. The police chief said the husband had earlier threatened to burn his wife to death. He has been remanded in custody until February 9 for further enquiries.
