Bhopal, October 24 (IANS) Police claimed to have busted an illegal country-made arms factory running in a rented farmhouse in a remote village in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhind district. An official gave this information on Friday.
After a successful operation, Bhind Superintendent of Police (SP) Asit Yadav, while briefing media persons, said that 12 country-made pistols, three live cartridges and huge quantity of weapon making material were seized during the raid.
He said a local gang was running a full-fledged gun factory by hiring skilled workers from Uttar Pradesh at Rs 50,000 per month. The illegal factory was being run from a farmhouse in Rupwai, where during a raid four men were found assembling pistols.
“The gang had rented a farmhouse for Rs 20,000 per month, while two master gunners were brought in from Uttar Pradesh’s Mainpuri district to prepare the weapons. This was not just petty crime, it was an industrial-scale operation,” Yadav said.
He explained that the gang had created a structured business with monthly salaries and production targets.
This action was taken when Barohi police station in-charge Atul Bhadoria received information on October 21 that a person was waiting near Amalhari village intersection to sell an illegal pistol.
Police immediately reached the spot and recovered one 32 bore pistol, three 315 bore pistols and three live cartridges and arrested the suspect.
According to the police, the accused told the investigators about the existence of a secret arms workshop. The police took prompt action and raided the location and recovered 12 pistols along with raw material used in manufacturing weapons.
The accused admitted that the material for the weapons was taken from Etawah, Mainpuri and Etah districts of Uttar Pradesh. They had been working since September 19 and had already manufactured 22 pistols, at least seven of which had been sold in the illegal weapons market.
“We have also arrested three buyers of these weapons, while others are being traced. The main gunman, who was employed at the farmhouse, is a notorious criminal and is absconding. A reward of Rs 10,000 has been announced for his capture,” Yadav said.
