Louis Tomlinson discusses the challenges of a solo career following the legacy of One Direction.

Louis Tomlinson has addressed the challenge of comparing his solo success to that of his former One Direction bandmates, admitting it became “toxic” over time.

After the band split in 2015, the singer admitted he struggled with competition from Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Zayn Malik.

However, Tomlinson revealed that he has overcome these negative feelings and said he no longer feels the need to compete with other 1D stars.

In an interview with Brazilian publication G1, he confirmed: “No, I don’t, to be honest.”

Looking back on his journey from One Direction to solo artist, Tomlinson admitted it was a challenge to compare his success to his former bandmates.

He expressed how the transition from being in a band to pursuing a solo career can bring about a sense of competition, especially when referencing each other’s achievements.

The singer described the dynamic as becoming “a bit toxic” at times, highlighting the pressures within the music industry.

Despite efforts to draw comparisons, he stressed that he is happy with his music career, having released two solo albums, wall and Faith in the future.

He expressed his abiding pride in his former bandmates’ achievements and acknowledged that competition is inherent in the industry.

Tomlinson has previously admitted that he was jealous of Styles’ career trajectory.

Among the One Direction members, Harry Styles has achieved notable success in music and acting.
