In her surprising statement, the singer admitted she was “tired” of the relentless criticism and scrutiny in life and on the internet.

“All I wanted was to make music, make people happy, and help the world become a little better than I found it,” she wrote. “But I started to feel like the world didn’t want me to be a part of it.”

Lizzo, who has been facing harassment lawsuits, added that she has faced lies about her personality because of her “influence and views” and been attacked for her appearance.

She ended her message by saying, “My character has been denigrated by people who don’t know me and disrespect my name. I didn’t sign up for this shit. I quit.”

As the post went viral, the “Truth Hurts” singer’s fans came to support her and asked her not to “give up.”
